Conserved by craft
THE NOTCH BEER SERIES
The three beers will be sold as a limited series in lodges and bars within the Pilanesberg area. All proceeds from the beers will go towards the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust and their efforts in conserving our rhinos and more specifically their rhino notching and DNA collection initiative.
WHITE RHINO LAGER
BLACK RHINO ALE
FALLEN RHINO WEISS
An award winning, easy drinking, craft lager for true fans of great flavoured brewing – the meticulous mix of imported malts, coupled with a late addition of Oregon hops, creates unique flavour notes.
A full flavoured robust Ale, incorporating dark Belgian caramel malts to craft a unique and delicious flavour profile. The sweetness from the malts is offset by characteristically spicy hop notes, with hints of citrus.
This Crystal Weiss is clear and easy to drink. It is purpose brewed with both barley and wheat malts, whilst the low hop bitterness means it can be enjoyed by many different palates, on any occasion.
THE PILANESBERG WILDLIFE TRUST
The Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust (PWT) is the beneficiary of this initial ‘Conserved by Craft’ campaign.
The PWT is responsible for anti-poaching measures such as the rhino notching & DNA collection initiative within the Pilanesberg area. During immobilization, a DNA sample is extracted for record keeping, a microchip is inserted into the rhino’s horn and the ears are ‘notched’. Rhino ‘notching’ allows conservationists to readily identify rhinos in the wild and is core to the gathering of vital biological data from ground monitoring, such as movements, home range, birth rate, inter-calving periods, associations and aggression, to name a few. This is also a vital step in securing the rhinos and deterring poaching.
